Now up on 1968, linked to 45cat, 2550 removed from among The Missing...
A couple of interesting things about the label:
First off, notice that the producer is listed as Ulis Gaines, who was co-owner of both NOLA and Hotline with Wardell Quezergue...
Secondly, the publishing company is listed as Col-Soul, which was owned by Larry McKinley...
Thirdly, the songwriter is listed as Allen Orange, who had set off to Nashville to work with John R at Soundstage 7 shortly after his Minit 45s circa 1961-64 (see
http://souldetective.blogspot.com/2007/07/case-five-allen-orange.html)... had he returned to New Orleans by then on his way to Shreveport and his work with Geater Davis?
MODE was reportedly one of Senator Jones' many labels, and this looks like its inaugural release. was the good Senator just trying to spread the wealth??
In any event, we're still looking for a scan/confirmation of the Code # on the flip.
Thanks, guys!
