Hey Folks -

In light of some recent discoveries, I thought it might be useful to provide a list of White Cliffs release numbers that are as yet unaccounted for, either on our site or on 45cat. Here we go:

201
203
215
227
241
243
244
247
249
254
256
267
271
272
275
277
278
279
280
282
283

As not strictly a 'soul label' I think White Cliffs was not as collectible as other New Orleans labels, and as such people did not go out of their way to have a 'complete' set (as they most certainly have done for Sansu, Instant, etc.) - which kind of makes things interesting... can we track down these missing releases here post-Katrina?

Go for it!

I don't think it would be a bad idea to compile a list of all known Matassa Studio labels with catalog gaps during the time their records were recorded at the studio.

It'd be a pain to compile, of course.

OK Y'all -

John Broven found these missing White Cliffs releases listed in The R&B Indies:

249 The Fabulous Falcons: Dolly/I Wanna Be With You
267 Johnny Minit and the Hands of Time: Nobody Else
271 The Masonic Kings: Who Is That Walking On The Water/Let Me Tell You
277 Johnny Minit and the Hands of Time: Peppermint Choo Choo

He said... but I don't think we should remove them from the list until we have Code numbers for them.

Bob - Sorry this one got buried here on a back burner...

We have the Al Belleto Christmas single as #206:

http://www.45cat.com/record/nc028701us

was it released as 205 as well??

---and would you believe I just found #287 on the shelf at my house, came back here to update this post, and found your addition!

http://www.45cat.com/record/nc848778us

So, 287 was removed from the list.

We're getting there - one 45 at a time!!

Cool, Kris - thanks!

Do we have code numbers on these releases?

The way I see it, I don't want to remove any from the list until we determine if they are 'coded'. My aging memory fails me, but I believe there is at least one White Cliffs 45 that does not have Cosimo Codes - which is fairly amazing, actually...

SO - until we can actually examine these (and the others submitted by Broven from the R&B Indies) and see if they are coded, they stay 'missing'...

IN VINYL VERITAS!

White Cliffs 205 was first released as Rays 205, that one is already in the list and both are on 45cat:
http://www.45cat.com/artist/steve-babin-and-the-trademarks.
Also 284 is already on 45cat, http://www.45cat.com/record/nc184839us, but that's another White Cliffs 45 without code.
Probably the Magnetics 45 should indeed be in the list if we can find out what codes it has.
